On the beaches of Florida, carnivorous bacteria appeared
Vibrio vulnificus carnivorous bacteria, dangerous for humans, have appeared on some beaches in Florida. About this local residents and visitors warned state authorities.
Since the beginning of 2015, seven cases of human infection with this bacterium have been registered. Of these, two people died. Its danger lies in the fact that it breeds well in salt water.
Over the past few years in the state of Florida, there has been an 32 case of infection with the bacterium Vibrio vulnificus. 85% infections occurred from May to October.
A spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Health, Mara Burger, said that people become infected with this dangerous bacterium when they eat raw shellfish. There is also a huge risk of infection in the body when bathing in the sea with open wounds.
If a person becomes infected with the Vibrio vulnificus bacterium through an injured part of the body and is not treated with antibiotics on time, amputation of the limb will be required. Symptoms of infection include vomiting, stomach pain and indigestion. If they occur, you should immediately seek medical help.
