On New York, there is a snowstorm with freezing rain.

Today, meteorologists warned that New York could expect a real snow storm this coming weekend. And flying snow flakes are by no means the only thing it will bring to the residents of the Big Apple.

The atmospheric phenomenon, according to experts, could be a “mash of snow, ice and rain,” said New York Post Accuweather meteorologist Dave Dombeck.

The sheer size of the storm, dubbed the Tennessee Valley Storm, is noteworthy given the area it will cover and how much water it will bring with it.

“This is a pretty significant, juicy storm,” Dombeck said. “It could be a 24-hour snow storm.”

There is a 10 percent chance of snow falling right after a storm hits New York on Saturday night. Precipitation will continue to fall, at least, all night on Sunday.

It is very likely that we will see "all types of precipitation," said Dombek, "everything is in the snow [or] a little snow, then icy, and then ordinary rain."

Dombek said that snow cover could range from an inch to a foot (from 2,5 to 30,5 centimeters).

The natural phenomenon, which is now moving into the Pacific Ocean, should get to California by Thursday, and then go from Texas to the Tennessee Valley and the east coast.

The last storm that hit the Big Apple happened on November 15. Then precipitation reached 6 inches (15 cm), but the element almost paralyzed the city.

Mayor Bill de Blasio blamed "bad luck" and poor forecasting for the failure of the city services in snowy weather, and not bad planning at all, the newspaper notes.
