Maria Sharapova disqualified for 2 of the year for violating anti-doping rules
Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova disqualified for two years due to anti-doping rules. This is reported on Wednesday, June 8, Twitter International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Russian women's disqualification started on 26 on January 2016 of the year. On that day, during the Australian Open, she passed a doping test that gave a positive result. Thus, Sharapova will miss the 2016 Olympics of the Year in Rio de Janeiro, which will run from 5 to August 21. Also, the athlete was deprived of prize and rating points for participation in the Australian Open.
The President of the Russian Tennis Federation (FTR), Shamil Tarpishchev, said that the organization would challenge the decision on Sharapova and seek a reduction in the disqualification.
The athlete said she would appeal this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This athlete said on his page in Facebook.
The athlete also said that initially the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tribunal demanded that she be disqualified for four years. According to Sharapova, the main thing is that the tribunal ruled that there were no premeditated actions on her part that would have been aimed at violating anti-doping rules.
It is for this reason that Nike is already announced renewal cooperation with Sharapova. In March, Nike, like a number of others Tennis Sponsors, suspended the contract.
7 March at a special press conference, Sharapova admitted that she received a notice of a positive doping test, taken during a speech at the Australian Open. In the blood of the athlete found traces meldonia. She was suspended from competition with 12 March.
