Pumpkin from Minnesota is recognized as the largest in North America: it weighs more than a ton
Horticulturalist Travis Ginger of Minnesota set a new US record for heaviest pumpkin on October 10th. He grew a giant pumpkin weighing 1 kg, reports ABC.

Travis Ginger of Anoki, Minnesota has won the annual Northern California pumpkin weighing competition.
“Minnesota has a great mid-year, but spring here is very, very hard. So it was simply impossible to grow such a pumpkin in Minnesota,” Ginger said. “It's like winning the Tour de France on a wide wheel. You know, you can only hope, but it worked."

Ginger carried a giant pumpkin for 35 hours to see his hard work pay off at the 49th World Pumpkin Weighing Championships in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco.
“You think driving in a snowstorm is bad? Try to ride one of these cars,” he said.
Ginger, who also won the same competition in Northern California in 2020, broke the record set last week in New York, where the grower grew a massive 1kg pumpkin.

An Italian grower holds the world record for the heaviest pumpkin. According to the Guinness Book of Records, in 2021 he grew a pumpkin weighing 1 kg.
