Known plane tackle could “hare” fly from Chicago to London

66-year-old Marilyn Jean Hartman is known to law enforcement agencies in several states; for several years, police have detained her for successful and unsuccessful attempts to sneak onto planes (without a ticket, boarding pass or passport).

In 2014, she was detained while trying to get to Hawaii without a ticket, reports The Washington Post.

That same year, after several attempts, she managed to fly from San Jose to Los Angeles without a ticket. In 2015, a woman “hare” managed to fly from Minnesota to Florida. That same year, she was arrested in Chicago for attempting to bypass security at two of the city's major airports. In most cases, the woman joined large groups of travelers and thus went through security and passport control at the airport without presenting any documents.

In 2016, a judge in Chicago sentenced Hartman to 2 years of probation and to six months of compulsory treatment at a psychiatric hospital after she was again arrested at Chicago International Airport for attempting to circumvent control.

At the beginning of 2018, the woman again became the focus of the press and law enforcement. This time she went to London (United Kingdom).

She sneaked past the security check at Chicago Airport and went to Heathrow. The woman was arrested after arriving in London on January 15 and sent back to the US on January 18.

Hartman was charged with illegally crossing the border, as well as stealing.

The transport security administration is investigating how it managed to bypass the checks.

According to media reports, Hartman is a lonely homeless woman who spends nights in different shelters or cheap motels.
