Facebook will transfer to the Congress texts of Russian political announcements in the USA

Company Facebook agreed to provide intelligence services to the House of Representatives and the United States Senate with almost 3 000 political advertisements purchased and posted by companies affiliated with the Russian authorities.

According to "Voice of America"Referring to the words of the social lawyer Colin Stretch, all these announcements were used in the campaign to interfere in the US presidential election in 2016.

“We are confident that the information we must provide to the public is of great importance to government agencies in order to fully understand what happened during the 2016 election campaign,” the lawyer said in an official statement.

In the last weeks Facebook submitted to the Congress "some samples" of such announcements, stating that the company had eliminated the 470 pages created by private individuals and companies related to Moscow.

In the video message posted on the personal page in Facebook, the founder of the social network, Mark Zuckerberg, said that his company "actively cooperates with the US authorities in the framework of the ongoing investigation of Russian interference."

Meanwhile, Kremlin official spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday, September 22, that Russia did not deploy Facebook advertising posts to influence US presidential elections

“We do not know who and how advertises in Facebook, and they have never done this, the Russian side has never been involved in this, ”Peskov told reporters.

US lawmakers called on the Federal Election Commission to achieve transparency on the issue of advertising on the social network after it became clear that during the election campaign, Russian organizations placed political advertisements there.
