This is some kind of Chicago: the people of Kiev complain about robbers who take food packages

According to the people of Kiev, a group of unknowns began to attack people who leave the supermarkets, and take away their food bags. Militiamen say that before this was not. In addition, according to the central board of the metropolitan police, the number of robberies in Kiev has increased. Since the beginning of this year, 425 robberies were committed, and last year there were 303 cases like this.

Residents of Voskresenka (Dneprovsky district) say that two such attacks occurred in two days. According to Vlad Andriychenko, two people tried to rob him when he was walking down the street after shopping at a local market. “It happened on Friday. Two attacked. They tried to snatch the bags of food from their hands, but they failed. After futile attempts, they simply ran away!” the Kiev resident writes on social networks and adds that he called the police.

The second incident occurred at the intersection of Kurnatovsky and Kibalchich streets - five unknown people beat up a passer-by and took away three bags of food from him. The Dnieper district police confirm both cases. “In connection with what happened on Kurnatovsky, criminal proceedings have been opened under the article “Robbery.” The second case is under investigation,” police say.

Bags of food are also taken away in Goloseevo. “A 27-year-old Kiev resident contacted the police and stated that two unknown men armed with a knife attacked him in the elevator and took away his money, phone and two bags of food. The attackers were detained the same day. They turned out to be a 39-year-old native of the Kiev region and a 32-year-old Cherkassy resident, who admitted to their crime. Based on this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under the article “robbery,” which means up to 10 years in prison,” the police said.

The people of Kiev are simply shocked by such cases. “Even buying sausage has become dangerous,” writes Kiev resident Mikhail Kolgadin on social networks. “This is some kind of Kiev Chicago,” agrees Yuri Danchik. As the police explain, such robbers are often visitors and the unemployed, and the reason for this is the difficult economic situation in the country. “They take away everything that may seem valuable: money, mobile phones and even food. To avoid becoming a victim of such criminals, you should try not to walk alone in the evenings,” advises the head of the press service of the capital’s police, Oksana Blyshchik.
