Joe Biden was vaccinated against COVID-19 live
President-elect Joe Biden publicly received his first dose of the Pfizer and BioNTech coronavirus vaccine on Monday afternoon, December 21. His wife and future first lady Jill Biden was also vaccinated on this day, writes CNN.
The injection was given at ChristianaCare Hospital in Newark, Delaware by Taba Masa, Nurse Practitioner and Chief Health Officer.
Biden's vaccination was administered a week after the first doses of the vaccine were administered to medical professionals in the United States, and a few days after the FDA granted an emergency use authorization second vaccine against coronavirus... Chief infectious disease specialist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, previously told ABC that he strongly recommends that Biden and Harris get vaccinated as soon as possible. He also recommended vaccinations to President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.
Earlier this month, Biden told CNN's Jake Tupper that he would receive the vaccine as soon as Fauci tells him it is safe, and that he will do it publicly to demonstrate his belief in the vaccine.
Psaki told reporters that Biden and Harris would be vaccinated on separate days on the advice of medical experts. The reason may be that if Biden and Harris experience side effects that studies have reported, such as headaches or fever, they won't show them on the same day.
Vice President Mike Pence, Second Lady Karen Pence and Surgeon General Jerome Adams got the vaccine at the eventheld in front of the camera last week. The Trump administration said publicly vaccinating the vice president was part of the government's efforts to build public confidence in the vaccine's safety and effectiveness.
Trump has yet to receive the vaccine and will not receive it until a White House medical team recommends it, a White House spokesman told CNN. According to the official, the president is still taking advantage monoclonal antibody cocktailwhich he was given after he tested positive for Covid-19 in the fall, but he will most likely receive the vaccine as soon as recommended by the medical team.

Part of Biden's plan to tackle the pandemic includes distributing 100 million vaccines, enough to reach 50 million people, in his first 100 days in office. As of Monday afternoon, December 14, more than 318 Americans have died from the coronavirus pandemic.
