Two Israelis join the ranks of the American Academy of Sciences

Two Israeli scientists were honored with the title of full members of the United States Academy of Sciences and Arts.

This is Professor Abraham Nitzan from Tel Aviv University and Professor Mordechai Segev from the Haifa Technion.

Professor Nitsan was awarded this honor for his research in the field of theoretical physical chemistry, Professor Segev - for his achievements in the field of laser physics and optics.

For high achievements in science, both scientists at various times were awarded the Israeli State Prize.

Two other scientists who became members of the American Academy of Sciences - a researcher in the field of oncology from Canada, professor Nahum Zonenberg, and a professor-microbiologist from the University of California Shaul Mukamel - were also citizens of Israel in the past.
