Delta Airlines resumed flights between the US and Russia

The American airline Delta Airlines, which last December halted flights between the United States and Russia, resumed 16 flights in May. About this tass сообщили in company.

The airline will operate flights on the Moscow-New York route from Terminal D of Sheremetyevo Airport. This is the only direct flight the airline operated to Russia before the suspension of flights.

“The flight will operate five times a week, offering customers more than 60 destinations in the United States and beyond, connecting at the airline’s New York hub,” the company notes.

Delta Airlines will perform one flight on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Departure from Moscow is scheduled for 13: 45, and arrival in New York is at 16: 50 (local time is everywhere).

“Last winter, many air carriers suspended flights. We also decided then to wait until the spring of 2016. We do not yet have specific plans for loading; everything will depend on pricing on the market. We assume that load will still be at a good level,” Leonid Tarasov, general representative of Delta Airlines in Russia, previously said.

Flights will be operated on Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.

Who flies to New York?

Direct flights on the Moscow-New York route are currently operated only by Aeroflot.

Last year, in addition to Aeroflot, AK Transaero, which is now in bankruptcy, and Delta Airlines also operated in this direction.

In April 2015, Delta Airlines decided to suspend flights on the Moscow-New York route from December 1. A number of other European carriers also stopped flying to Russia last year. For example, German Air Berlin closed direct flights with Moscow, German Lufthansa, Thai Thai Airways International, and Finnish Finnair significantly reduced their route networks.
