April winter storm in the USA: three dead, snowstorms, tornadoes and fires

A large-scale storm that brought blizzards, tornadoes, rain, strong winds, and also provoked several forest fires, hit most of the US 14-15 in April.

According to rescuers, bad weather over the weekend led to the death of three people. In Louisiana, a little girl died when a thunder-fallen tree fell on her family's house. In Wisconsin, a woman died in a car accident, losing control of driving on slippery roads; a car accident in Nebraska due to difficult weather conditions led to the death of an 61-year-old man.

According to the National Meteorological Service, in the northern parts of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and New York, there is snow, strong winds and freezing rain.

Rain and ice are expected in the Midwest, as well as cold gusts of wind. The storm moved toward the Great Lakes on Saturday and is expected to reach New England on Sunday.

Winter storm warnings have also been issued for eastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas.

On Saturday, the area from South Dakota to northern Nebraska was hit hardest by the storm. There fell to 45 see snow. Blizzard warnings are still valid in Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and in northern Iowa.

In Minnesota, snow falls at speeds up to 5 cm per hour. Wind speeds up to 70 km per hour transforms these snowfalls into blizzards.

After that, the storm went to the Great Lakes region, especially threatening Wisconsin and Michigan.

In the state of New York, a warning about freezing rain operates in the Buffalo area until the middle of Sunday afternoon.

Such precipitation, according to meteorologists, can lead to power outages and complicate the situation on the roads.

At the same time, on the territory from Tennessee through Mississippi, Alabama to Louisiana 14, April, there were severe thunderstorms with devastating gusts of wind, which caused falling trees and power outages.

The threat of similar weather conditions on Sunday spread to Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, as well as parts of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. There is also the threat of tornadoes in these regions.

The extreme winds associated with the storm led to several major fires in Texas and Oklahoma, where meadows were ignited because of a prolonged drought.

On Sunday, the threat of forest fires due to storms settled in New Mexico and West Texas.

In addition, due to the storm in many regions, there were strong temperature fluctuations. For example, in Fort Worth, in less than 36 hours, the air temperature has changed from 32 degrees Celsius to 3 degrees.

Also in some regions due to the storm there was a record warmth, which, however, will leave on Monday.
