American media magnate Rupert Murdoch began dating a Russian woman: she is the former mother-in-law of Abramovich

Months after breaking off his engagement to conservative radio personality Anne Leslie Smith, 92-year-old media mogul Rupert Murdoch is not alone again. His new lady of the heart is Elena Zhukova, 66, a retired Russian molecular biologist. What is known about her, said the publication Business Insider.

Murdoch met Zhukova at a party hosted by his ex-wife Wendi Deng. After that, Murdoch invited Zhukova, and they traveled around the Mediterranean for several weeks.

Tatler, an elite British society magazine, describes Zhukova as "located at the center of a vast network of power spanning the art world, Russian oligarchs and one of the most powerful shipping dynasties in the world."

She is of Jewish-Russian descent and was previously married to Russian oil billionaire and financier Alexander Zhukov.

In a 2010 interview with The New Yorker, she described her family as part of the "Moscow intelligentsia" and said she met her first husband when they were both students.

The couple had a daughter, Dasha Zhukova. The couple divorced when she was three years old. Alexander made his fortune in oil and finance as the Soviet authorities began to loosen restrictions on private enterprise.

Zhukova left the Soviet Union in 1990 when she was in her thirties. She joined Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1990 and lived with her daughter, who was then nine years old.

At first, the move was considered temporary, her daughter said, but they lived there for many years until Zhukova was offered the opportunity to study diabetes at UCLA.

By the time of her retirement, Zhukova was a professor of biology and had written several peer-reviewed scientific articles.

The daughter described her mother as "a very serious scientist" who was "more interested in substance than aesthetics". She recalled her childhood filled with "geeky" graduate students visiting the house.

Elena also has twin children, a boy and a girl, from another man.

The younger Zhukova is an art collector, socialite and businesswoman. She was married to Roman Abramovich, a Russian oligarch and former owner of Chelsea Football Club. The couple has two children. The couple divorced in 2018.

According to The New York Post, citing property reports, after the divorce, Abramovich transferred $92 million worth of New York property to Dasha Zhukova, including a 5-story mansion on the Upper East Side.

Dasha Zhukova is currently married to Stavros Niarchos II, grandson of the Greek shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos. The couple has a son.

Dasha is friends with Murdoch's ex-wife Deng.

Murdoch has been married five times, most recently in 2022 to Jerry Hall, the ex-wife of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.
