An American told why she pushed an 16-year-old girlfriend from a bridge
A tragic incident occurred at Multon Falls Regional Park in Washington State: teenage girl fell into the river with a 18-meter bridge due to the fact that she pushed her friend. The video of the fall scattered over the Internet and was shown on American TV channels. The other day, both girls spoke about what had happened.
The video shows 16-year-old Jordan Holgerson standing on a bridge before jumping into the river - a very common pastime among local teenagers, writes TSN. Jordan hesitates for a long time to take a step forward, and suddenly her friend, 18-year-old Taylor Smith, pushes the girl in the back - and she flies down, waving her arms and legs.
As a result of the fall, Jordan suffered fractures of six ribs, a puncture of the lungs and other internal injuries.
In an interview with NBC, the victim stated that she wanted her friend to go to jail.
"At first I didn't really want Taylor to get in trouble, but now that I think about it more, I want her to sit in jail and think about what she did," Jordan said.
Taylor, for her part, said that Jordan herself had asked to push her off the bridge.
"She wanted to jump, but she got scared and asked me to push her," Taylor Smith said on the ABC morning show. “I thought she would be fine.” I didn’t think about the consequences.”
Smith says her "close" friend's desire for a prison sentence is "a little shocking, but understandable." "At first she said, 'It's okay, I know you didn't mean to hurt me.' And now she’s just not responding,” Taylor said.
The girl says she is afraid to be in prison, but she will make any decision of the court.
Clark County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that it is considering criminal liability for 18-year-old Smith. On Friday, August 17, she was officially charged with criminal negligence.
