Trump administration decided to divide illegal families when crossing the border

The Trump administration is considering a controversial plan to prevent illegal immigration by separating immigrant parents from their children when they illegally cross the border.

In accordance with the new policy, immigrant parents will be sent to detention centers for adults, and their children to shelters for minors, or the so-called “sponsors”, which are usually relatives in the United States.

In addition, they are considering measures according to which the authorities will deport parents-immigrants if they already live in the US illegally and send their children to reunite with them.

It is reported that this provision has already been approved by the Agency for Immigration and Customs Control (DHS), but is awaiting final approval by the Minister of National Security Kirszhin Nielsen.

National Security spokesman Tyler Houlton said The Timesthat parents who are trying to move to the United States themselves put their children at risk and cruelty. The route from Central America to the border between the United States and Mexico is known to be deadly due to the harsh natural conditions, as well as kidnapping, rape and smuggling of people.

“The dangerous illegal journey north is no place for young children and we need to explore every possible measure to protect them,” Houlton said.

It is not for the first time that the White House declares its desire to divide immigrant families who illegally cross the border. Former Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly, who is currently the head of the presidential administration Donald Trump, said in March that he was considering a similar plan, but was unable to implement it.
