Suddenly gaining speed: half a million Tesla electric vehicles can be recalled
Half a million Tesla cars can be recalled as part of an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This was the result of reports that electric cars are suddenly gaining speed, writes The Next Web.

The NHTSA said it will consider a request for the recall of 500 Tesla electric vehicles amid allegations of sudden acceleration.
This issue is believed to have affected a number of S models released between 2012 and 2019, X models released between 2016 and 2019, and 3S models released between 2018 and 2019.
The petition specifically refers to 127 consumer complaints covering 123 individual vehicles.
The petition claims that alleged unintentional sudden accelerations of electric vehicles could have caused 110 accidents and 52 injuries.
It should be noted that the petition was filed by a person who is known for betting on Tesla shares in order to reduce the cost. He does not have his own Tesla electric car.

Some complaints were filed by Tesla owners, others were filed on their behalf. The exact number of actual owners of electric vehicles from which complaints have been received has not been established.
However, regardless of who made the complaints, it is important that they are sufficiently investigated. “NHTSA will review the petition and related data,” the statement said.
The NHTSA regularly receives complaints of sudden unintended accelerations in a wide range of vehicles. Most of them are the result of a driver error, such as pressing the gas pedal instead of the brake.
This is not the only Tesla audit conducted by NHTSA. The government is currently investigating a series of accidents in which the driver assistance technology is allegedly to blame.
