How to bring a large sum to Russia
It is not a secret that many who live and work in the USA try to support their relatives financially and send money to their homeland. In case you decide yourself to visit relatives in Russia with a large amount of money, this is what you need to know in order to legally transport money across the border, and the procedures in this situation.

As the lawyer writes Tinkoff Bank Maxim Sidorovsky, when entering Russia, it is necessary to file a customs declaration.
This situation is regulated by the Federal Law “On Currency Regulation and Currency Control”. Article 15 of this law states that you can import and export from RF money without restrictions, if you comply with the requirements of customs legislation.
If you are a lump sum of cash in an amount not exceeding 10 000 $, this money does not even need to be declared. If you import more 10 000 $ - you need to declare. This is done at the customs: you submit a written customs declaration for the entire amount imported. No customs duties, taxes or other charges are required.
If desired, the amount less than 10 000 $ can also be declared. You have the right!

Prepare a declaration in advance. This will speed up the process at customs.
Here is an example of a properly completed declaration for the import into Russia of 11 000 dollars in cash:
If you do not declare the imported money or provide false data, you can be held liable under Art. 16.4 CAO or art. 200 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
