Sentenced to man who planned terrorist attack in New York
Munter Omar Saleh, 22, who previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to support the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) and planning a terrorist attack in New York, was sentenced on February 6 to 18 years in prison.
This is reported on the site US Department of Justice.
Saleh, a US citizen, was arrested in 2015 year on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack in New York. During the detention, he and his accomplices tried to attack with a knife on the leading officer following them.
A few days after the detention, Saleh was also arrested by his accomplice Imran Rabbani, who rushed at a law enforcement officer with a knife. The guardian of the order received almost no injuries, since he was in a bulletproof vest.
According to police, a young man who studied in one of the colleges in New York’s Queens district supported the Islamic State terrorist group and intended to make an explosive device and put it into action in the city. He was also allegedly intending to translate ISIS’s propaganda materials into English. The student did not hide his views and posted on social networks publications in support of the militants of the organization.
