US Air Force preparing aircraft for a nuclear attack

The US Air Force is preparing to bring B-52 strategic bombers back on alert, said David Goldfein, head of the United States Air Force.

As reported by Goldfein Air force, is now preparing an order to return to the round-the-clock duty of heavy bombers, which are based at Barksdale air base in Louisiana.

As the general explained, this means that on the runway of the base, around-the-clock, B-52 with nuclear weapons ready for an instant departure will be on duty.

“This is another step that will allow us to be on guard,” General Goldfein said in an interview Defence One. “I do not view this step as preparation for any specific event, but rather as a response to the current situation in the world in which we find ourselves, as preparation for possible developments,” the general added.

Goldfein stressed that the order to put the bombers on alert was not yet received, but they are awaiting him soon, and preparations have already begun at the Barksdale base.

“We no longer live in a bipolar world, where there was only us and the Soviet Union. Other players with nuclear weapons have emerged,” Goldfein added.

Between the USA and the DPRK continues exchange of belligerent statements against the background of ongoing tests of ballistic missiles in the DPRK. In early September, Pyongyang announced the testing of a hydrogen warhead. It was announced on state television that it was already ready to be installed on a ballistic missile.

The United States is demanding that Pyongyang cease developing nuclear and missile weapons. The DPRK leadership, in turn, declares that it does not intend to curtail the nuclear program and refuse to test.

During a speech at the UN in mid-September, American President Donald Trump saidthat Washington will have to destroy North Korea if Pyongyang seriously threatens the United States or its allies. Trump also said that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is going “on the path of suicide.”

The North Korean leader called Trump's speech at the UN a "schizophrenic attack", saying, in turn, that the "crazy American old man" would probably have to be "tamed by fire."
