In Florida, a man held elderly neighbors hostage
In Florida, the couple was held hostage after their neighbor turned to them for a cup of salt.
Louis Rosen and his wife Irene said that their neighbor came to their house in Tamarac, Florida, to borrow a cup of salt. When they invited him inside, 45-year-old Leonardo Benitez took out a pistol and a knife, and demanded banking information from his elderly neighbors to withdraw $ 50 thousands.
“I was scared to death,” says 70-year-old Irene.
The couple was held hostage for two hours. Louis 99-year-old received a cut of the scalp after the criminal hit him on the back of the head with a gun.
His wife managed to escape from the house and warn the police, but she had to temporarily leave her husband to get help.
Benitez, meanwhile, saw the police approaching and fled to the relatives house.
After the special forces surrounded the house, the kidnapper gave up.
Benitez was charged with home invasion and kidnapping.
