In the capital of Yemen, there are fights between Shiite rebels and government forces
In Sana'a, hostilities broke out between the Huthi rebel units and government forces. The fight goes near the palace of the President of the country Abed Rabbo Mansur Hadi.
According to eyewitnesses, explosions and gunfire were heard on Wednesday 19 January in Sanaa. Civilians hurriedly left the city.
As the representatives of the authorities said later, the parties agreed on a cease-fire, but the shooting in the city did not stop.
The clashes began several days after the Hutis kidnapped the head of the presidential administration, Hadi, in an effort to thwart a meeting dedicated to working on a new constitution for the country.
Shiite rebels have controlled Sanha since September last year, when they captured the city and later signed an agreement calling for the formation of a new government.
Violence continues in the capital and other areas of Yemen. Meanwhile, the Houthis and other groups, including al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, continue to struggle for power in the country. Since the leader of Yemen was overthrown three years ago, the situation in the country has remained extremely unstable, writes Voice of America.
