In the US, they want to significantly change the security checks at airports

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is considering canceling passenger screening at more than 150 small and medium-sized airports throughout the country.

If the proposal is accepted, it will be the beginning of a significant change in the rules of air travel in the United States after nearly two decades of thorough scrutiny by the TSA since the terrorist attacks of September 11 on September 2001, after which a department was created.

The documents of the TSA working group that investigated this proposal claim that the cancellation of checks at small airports serving aircraft with passenger capacity up to 60 seats will lead to a "slight increase in security risks."

With this step, 115 can save millions of dollars a year, this money can be used to increase security at major airports.

According to the proposal, passengers and baggage that begin traveling from these small airports will be checked when they arrive at major airports for boarding connecting flights instead of the current practice of connecting them to passengers who have already passed the test at major airports. According to TSA, high-volume airports have higher powers and better security measures than smaller airports.

Two TSA officials, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed serious concern about the threat to national security if this idea was implemented. According to them, a similar proposal was investigated back in the 2011 year, but then it was rejected, now they have decided to return to this idea again. The document refers to 150 smaller airports, which are supposed to stop checking. The report does not list specific airports that may be affected by a policy change. TSA is currently conducting passenger checks at 440 airports in the United States.

The working group has determined that the policy change will affect about 10 000 passengers who are checked daily at small airports by TSA staff at 1299. This is about 0,5% of people departing daily from US airports.
