In Russia, burned books published with the help of the Soros Foundation
Vorkuta College of Mines and Economics burned books published with the support of the Soros Foundation. This is stated in the response of the Komi Ministry of Education to the request of the publication “7 × 7”. Total 53 burned copies of two different books.
According to the head of the college library, Elena Vasilyeva, one of the books was called “Worldview” and was “a little bit religious”. Vasilyeva clarified that the book was not popular with students.
In Vorkuta Polytechnic College 14 copies of six books, published with the support of the Soros Foundation, were seized. They will be destroyed with the help of shredders. About 400 copies of books were also seized at Ukhta State Technical University.
According to the Komi Education Ministry, the books are seized at the direction of the presidential envoy in the North-West Federal District Vladimir Bulavin.
Earlier, Forum wrote that the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia recognized the Open Society and Assistance funds, founded by American financier George Soros, “undesirable organizations”. According to the Russian authorities, the activities of these funds threaten the constitutional order of the country.
