A woman bomber exploded at a police station in Istanbul

A suicide bomber exploded in a police station in the center of Istanbul. As a result, two policemen were injured, one of whom later died in hospital from his injuries, reports Agence France-Presse. The woman herself died.

Mayor of the city of Kadir Topbash said that the assailant had activated a “death belt”. Earlier it was reported that a woman blew up a hand grenade.

Arriving at the station, the terrorist declared that she had lost her wallet. At the moment, the police are finding out the identity of the attacker.

The incident took place in the historical district of Sultanahmet. The scene of the emergency has been cordoned off by law enforcement officers, writes Lenta.ru.
