Looks like the beginning of a joke? Maybe, but for the owner of an electronic cigarette shop on the outskirts of the Belgian city of Charleroi, everything was for real.

On Saturday last week, six people actually went into the shop with the firm intention to rob him.

But the owner of the shop, Didier, did not lose his resourcefulness.

He offered the robbers to return in the evening, when there will be more money in the shop.

“This is some kind of laughter. These are probably the worst robbers in the history of Belgium,” Didier told the BBC.

He told how long 14 minutes tried to negotiate with them.

“We chatted a little at first. They tried to take something. But I told them: “Who robs a store at three o’clock in the afternoon! If you come in the evening, you can take 2 or 3 thousand euros,” says Didier. “The police I called refused to believe they would come back.”

But they still returned, and not once.

First they came to 17: 30, an hour before the shop closed. Didier said that is not the time.

They returned an hour later, to 18: 30, when the police were waiting for the unlucky robbers.

The police arrested five people, including one minor, and one managed to escape.
