A “zombie march” wearing kokoshniks took place in Kyiv
On Sunday, June 21, youth activists held a “zombie” parade in the center of Kyiv. Several dozen boys and girls walked from the Opera House to the building of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Everyone was made up to look like a zombie and had kokoshniks on their heads, which are a part of the Russian folk costume.
Young people danced to the accordion and shouted slogans “Putin is President”, “Kiev People’s Republic”, “Novorossiya”.
The organizers held this action as a protest against the Vesti newspaper. Activists said that this publication is engaged in Russian propaganda in Ukraine. With their “zombie march” they wanted to draw the attention of the SBU to this problem.
Near the SBU building, protest participants erected a sign with the inscription “News”, thank you for supporting Russian propaganda.” There were no confrontations or skirmishes during the “zombie march.” SBU officers, after the end of the action, removed the sign.
