In Israel, discovered the ruins of an ancient Byzantine church

In Israel, near the village of Abu Ghosh, discovered the ruins of an ancient Byzantine church. Found them quite by accident, during the road works to expand the route. About this 13 June reported the state radio of Israel, referring to the Antiquities Authority.

Archaeologists have already found out that this Byzantine church operated about 1500 years ago. Fragments of the building are very well preserved. The area of ​​the chapel is about 20 square meters, its floor was laid out in mosaic. The walls of the church are decorated with frescoes. Nearby are two more rooms. One of them was residential, and the second was used as a warehouse.

During the excavations, ancient coins, oil lamps, dishes were found. At the moment, archaeologists are researching the finds so that the Byzantine church can be restored in the future.
