In Illinois, scientists have carried out quantum teleportation at 44 km

Researchers from the Fermilab laboratory (Illinois) in the course of the experiment managed to ensure the instantaneous transmission of a quantum state over optical networks (teleportation). At the same time, its distance was 44 km. Writes about it Фокус.

Quantum teleportation is the transfer of a quantum state over a distance using an entangled pair separated in space and a classical communication channel, in which the state is destroyed at the point of departure during a measurement and recreated at the point of reception. It is carried out by the method of separating the so-called entangled qubits over a certain distance (when an unobservable connection is imposed on the qubits, which is expressed in the fact that with any change in one of several qubits, the rest change in concert with it).

Fermilab scientists used conventional single-photon sensors, optical networks and new laboratory equipment. It was possible to transfer a quantum qubit to another qubit connected to it and distant by 44 km with an accuracy of 90%, which is considered a very good indicator.

In the future, scientists plan to increase the distance. If they succeed, then in the future, quantum computing can be organized by the type of cluster, but without the obstacle in the form of restrictions on network bandwidth.
