Harvard imposed a total ban on sex teachers with students
Harvard University once again reminds its teachers that they cannot have sex with students. Previously, the university forbade professors to have sex with students if they are under their direct supervision. Now the educational institution introduces a total ban on the fact that professors have similar ties with students and faculty members. This ruling was published after Harvard adopted changes under US federal law prohibiting sex discrimination in education.
Experts from Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Committee on Sexual Misconduct decided that the university's current language of “disparate status relationships” was no longer sufficient. So the committee revised the policy and adopted a “clear and unambiguous prohibition” on any sexual or romantic relationships between faculty and students, which “is significantly more consistent with such expectations,” Harvard said in a statement.
The students supported the idea. “I don’t know of any such fact, but I don’t see any downside to the university making such a decision,” says sophomore William Greenlaw, writes AmericaRu.com
