Bo Story was on a kayak and was fishing when he spotted an 3 meter alligator a few meters away, which, according to his estimates, weighed about 160 kg. This happened not far from the kayak rental near the Gordon Highway.

“I was just fishing and all of a sudden, 3 feet away, I saw a huge alligator,” Storey said.

The man was preparing for a fishing tournament when he noticed that the alligator was approaching him. At that moment, all that occurred to him was to try to escape.

“I swam and swam, it came about 1,5 feet toward the back of my kayak, like a plane coming at me, and I just paddled nonstop until I got to shore and hid in my SUV,” Storey said.

The man escaped, not knowing that in a few hours the alligator would be caught by Robbie Amerson, his friend, and Richmond County authorities.

“We just happened to come down the road and saw the officers there, so we stopped and started talking to them,” Amerson said. That's how he learned about an attempted alligator attack on a kayaker.

Amerson called his friend Trey to ask for help catching a reptile.

“I called my buddy Trey, an alligator hunter, and we started looking for the monster,” Amerson said.

It took about 3 hours, but Robbie, Trey and their assistants caught the alligator and later learned that the affected kayaker was Storey, Amerson's friend.

Georgia authorities said the alligator was killed legally. Alligators can be hunted in public waters, as well as in private, if the owner gives permission.

This alligator was considered dangerous because it was not afraid of people. Since the hunter had permission, he legally killed this predator.
