Ukrainian festival “Soyuzivka-2015”: how it happened

The ninth annual Soyuzivka festival, organized by the Ukrainian National Fund, has come to an end. The Forum attended the event, traditionally held at a popular recreation center of the Ukrainian community, which is located in the Catskill Mountains, approximately two hours from New York City. At the entrance to the base there is a large trident, and across the road is the building of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity. To get into the territory of the base and, in fact, to the festival, you need to pay $30.

The theme of the festival this year was - solidarity with Ukraine. Fundraising was held at the gala evening on Friday, as well as at the exhibition of Ukrainian goods on the territory of the festival. At the festival were presented stands of charitable organizations that help Ukraine. Numerous volunteers sold T-shirts, talked about charity projects, fed visitors lard.

Oksana Bilozir, Sergey Fomenko, who led the festival, Dzidzio, Vasily Popadyuk, Pavel Tabakov, Australian dance group “Legend” were noted on the stage.

Guests were fed traditional Ukrainian dishes: dumplings - $6, cabbage rolls - $6, sausages, sauerkraut and stewed cabbage - $8; If desired, you could wash it down with Obolon beer for $6.

Among other entertainments, guests could visit the swimming pool within the complex for $ 10, weave a motanka doll, play volleyball.

By the assurances of the festival guests, this year there was an unusually large number of guests.

The organizers promised to take into account all the shortcomings at the next anniversary “Soyuzivka” and gather more popular performers.
