Ukraine has banned the import of 38 books of the Russian publishing house
The Customs Service of Ukraine has published a list of 38 books published in Russia that are prohibited from import to Ukraine. Among the banned publications are books by far-right philosopher Alexander Dugin, known for his support of the Novorossiya project, television and radio host Sergei Dorenko, writer Eduard Limonov, and adviser to President Putin, economist Sergei Glazyev.
As noted in the Ukrainian department, the ban was introduced “in order to prevent the use of information warfare and disinformation methods against citizens of Ukraine, the spread of the ideology of misanthropy, fascism, xenophobia and separatism, and to stop attacks on the territorial integrity and the state structure defined by the Constitution of Ukraine.”

The ban in the Internet era
It is reported that with a request to include these books in the list of goods prohibited for importation into the territory of Ukraine, the Ukrainian State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting spoke in mid-July. In early August, the customs service approved the request.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on this step on her Facebook with a quote from the work “Woe from Wit.” Zakharova cited a dialogue between the characters, ending with the phrase “take all the books and burn them.”
One of the authors who fell under the ban, Sergey Dorenko, noted that it is hardly effective to prohibit books in the Internet era. However, he denied that he was the author of one of the books prohibited by Kiev.
