Ukraine extended the embargo on goods from Russia: what can not be imported

Ukraine has extended the ban on the import of goods from the Russian Federation into the country until the end of 2020, writes “Columnist«.

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers made appropriate changes to Resolution No. 30 dated December 2015, 1147, as evidenced by the Government Portal.

“Introduce into the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of December 30, 2015 No. 1147 “On the ban on the import into the customs territory of Ukraine of goods originating from the Russian Federation” - as amended by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of May 15, 2019 No. 535, the attached amendments,” the message says .

According to the First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiva, among those banned for import into the territory of Ukraine:

• industrial goods;
• agricultural products;
• cars;
• cement (Portland cement, alumina cement, slag cement, sulphate-resistant cement and similar hydraulic cements);
• plywood (laminated, veneered panels and similar laminated wood);
• other goods.

From 1 August, Russian products will also be subject to special duties.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine 10 April expanded the list of prohibited for import of Russian goods. Imported glass containers, including cans, bottles for food and beverages, and containers, were subject to sanctions.

Also, the Cabinet of Ministers extended to December 31 2019 the effect of the embargo on the import of a number of goods from Russia and the import duty on other Russian goods.

Since 2016, according to the government’s decision, the import duty rates established by the customs tariff are applied to all Russian goods. At the same time, the free trade regime with Russia is also canceled.

After the introduction of Russia food embargo for Ukrainian goods, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine also approved trade countermeasures. In particular, the government has banned the supply of Russian food products, as well as a number of other goods, the total value of which imports correspond to the value of Ukrainian exports prohibited by the Russian Federation.
