Trump promises a "fantastic" 2018 year for the US

Saying goodbye to 2017 at a luxury party in his private estate, President Donald Trump predicted that 2018 will be a “terrific year,” writes “Voice of America".

Trump said Sunday that the stock market will continue to grow, and that companies will continue to return to the US at an "accelerated pace." He also recalled some achievements, including tax reform, permission to drill oil wells in the National Arctic Reserve, as well as the exclusion of the requirement of compulsory health insurance from health legislation.

"It will be a fantastic 2018 year," said Trump, who was wearing a tuxedo, when he entered the sparkling gilding hall in his Mar-a-Lago mansion, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump and their son Barron.

Commenting on the statement by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that he had a nuclear button installed on his desktop, Trump said: “We'll see.”

Among the guests gathered in the decorated hall were senior White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Trump sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., as well as Finance Minister Stephen Mnuchin.

After taking office, President Trump frequently visits the commercial real estate he owns. He refused to distance himself from his building and hotel empire, which caused criticism from experts on ethics.

Earlier in the day, Trump released a video dedicated to himself, in which he recalled the major, from his point of view, achievements in his first year in the post, accompanied by video excerpts from his speeches. He also spoke of American exclusivity.

In a video of more than three minutes, scenes of Trump's meetings with military personnel, border guards and world leaders are accompanied by an energetic soundtrack, against which he says: “We have created the modern world, and we will shape tomorrow’s world with the strength and skill of American hands.

Trump mentioned the successful appointment of a judge of the Supreme Court, his efforts to reduce regulations and his great victory in tax cuts, which he mistakenly described as "the largest tax cuts in the history of our country."

Trump accompanied the video with a New Year's message: “What a year it was, and we are just starting. Together we will make America great again. Happy New Year!".

Later, he posted another tweet filled with his usual rhetoric: “As our country rapidly becomes stronger and smarter, I want to wish all our friends, supporters, enemies, haters, and even a very dishonest fake media happy and healthy New Year. 2018 will be a great year for America! ”

The White House said that Trump was informed about the security measures taken throughout the country on New Year's Eve, and that he would continue to monitor this work.

On Sunday, Trump expressed his condolences to the victims of the shooting in the suburbs of Denver, which killed the deputy sheriff and injured 6 people, including four deputies. He tweeted: “We love our police and law enforcement officers. God bless them all! ”
