Trump intends to create American space forces

US President Donald Trump instructed the Pentagon to begin the formation of the Military Space Forces (VKS) of the country.

“When it comes to protecting America, the American presence in space is not enough. We need to have superiority in space,” Trump said.

According to him, the United States needs to secure leadership in space and not to “trudge” behind Russia and China.

“When I came to power, our plans for space were not so good... but now everything has changed, we have a lot of optimism. We don't want China, Russia or other countries to get ahead of us. We have always been in the lead, and we have a huge space for further actions,” the president emphasized.

He clarified that the US National Defense Strategy does not deny the possibility of conducting hostilities in outer space.

America is developing various offensive and defense space systems. In addition to military satellites and, presumably, anti-satellite potential, the United States, according to media reports, has an unmanned space plane, whose flights are strictly classified.

According to Space news, the US Air Force's budget for space programs in 2018 is 7,75 billion dollars, which is 20% more than a year earlier. In 2019, this budget item is planned to increase to 8,5 billion dollars.
