Toyota Motor recalls RAV-4 crossover from the US market

Toyota Motor has announced the recall of the RAV-4 crossover in the US market. 423500 vehicles will be diagnosed and repaired.

Among them - 421000, in fact, RAV-4 2009 - 2012's release, as well as 2500 RAV-4 EV electric vehicles. With regard to electric vehicles, it can be noted that virtually all released copies are recalled.

The main reason is called the corrosion of the front wiper mechanism. Over time, it will cause significant damage to the joint between the brush and the leash, with the result that the brush can suddenly separate. In this case, of course, it will be impossible to clean the windshield from dirt and water, and if the “janitor” is destroyed at a certain critical moment, the risk of an accident will increase significantly.

The main cause of corrosion is not the environment, but the circuit and components of the washer fluid supply system to the wiper blades. These components will be completely replaced during the service campaign. It is not specified whether the type and composition of the washing liquid used (water or alcohol-containing liquids) affects the rate of destructive processes.

Despite the large number of cars exposed to the described problem, not a single accident has been officially registered for this reason.

The revocable campaign in the US market will begin in mid-November.
