Tesla abandoned safety test to speed up car production

The test in question is called the brake-and-roll test. It allows you to verify that the wheels are installed correctly, as well as to check the brakes and their operation. One of the industry experts to whom the source refers, called this test a critical part of the car manufacturing process. At the same time, Tesla, in a commentary by CNBC, called this test “redundant”. In fact, the manufacturer confirmed the authenticity of the documents and the fact that the test was abandoned. At the same time, Tesla assured that all cars pass strict quality checks before leaving the factory.

“Every car we produce undergoes rigorous quality checks, including brake tests, and must comply with strict requirements. To be very clear, we do a test drive. each Model 3 on our test track to test brakes, torque, squeaks and noise. There are no exceptions, ”the company said in a statement.

Note that the Model 3 previously had problems with the build quality and with the brakes, but lately nothing has been heard. Perhaps the test was really “superfluous” and its cancellation would not bring any negative consequences on the part of security. But the stock market did not respond to the news in the best way, at the close of 3 trading on July 4, Tesla shares fell by more than 7%.
