Judge 'clears the way' for medical marijuana in Florida
In Florida, medical marijuana is legalized by the end of the year. A court in the state capital, Tallahassee, dismissed the latest appeal against the long-awaited regulatory act.
The Florida Department of Health, which developed the petition, expects to begin accepting applications within three weeks from legal manufacturers. They will grow a special modified strain of marijuana that does not cause a “high” and has low THC levels. Manufacturers can sell it to patients who are eligible to use the drug and are registered with the state.
"I'm a happy legislator," said Congressman Matt Gaets. R-Shalimar, one of the authors of the 2014 legislation, is known as an advocate for the use of medical marijuana. The congressman also contributed in every possible way to accelerating the legalization of the “Charlotte’s Web” variety, a variety of marijuana with a low content of substances that actually cause euphoria. This variety has been proven to help people who suffer from seizures, epilepsy, cancer and other diseases.
