The United States suspected Ukrainian investment companies in fraud
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (The Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC) initiated a case of fraud of stock market participants, including two well-known investment companies and six traders from Ukraine.
According to the regulator's claim, the list of the accused included Kiev investment companies Concorde Bermuda, Jaspen Capital Partners, as well as Alexander Eremenko, Alexander Makarov, Andrey Supranonok (owning 30% at Jaspen Capital Partners), Ivan Turchinov (all from Kiev), Nelya Dubova, Vladislav Khalupsky (both from Odessa).
In response to the accusations voiced, the head of the National Commission for Securities and Stock Market of Ukraine, Timur Khromayev, said that at present the commission has very limited tools for deterring such behavior.
“Namely, we do not have access to bank secrets, personal data and we cannot conduct investigations in order to obtain the necessary information. Further, we do not have the right to exchange this information with other regulators,” Khromaev quotes Interfax-Ukraine.
