Uber taxi service is the most expensive startup

According to publications in the financial press, the mobile taxi service Uber has completed another round of funding, reaching a capitalization of almost $ 51 billion. The company reportedly managed to raise capital from Microsoft Corp. and the investment arm of Indian media conglomerate Bennett Coleman & Co.

But advances in financing, as it turned out, do not go hand in hand with successes in making a profit. According to a publication on the American news site Gawker, the company lost more than 56 million dollars in 2013 year and more than 160 million dollars in the first half of 2014 year.

In response to the publication, Uber management stated that this is about “business model 101”: you attract finance, invest, develop, earn and bring income to investors.

The financial publication Wall Street Journal published a forecast that mobile taxi service revenues in the current year will be two billion dollars, which looks great against the background of income in 104 million dollars in 2013 year and 103 million in the first half of 2014 year.
