Heavy rains drenched the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut all day Tuesday. At midday, flood warnings were issued for the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Westchester counties in New York, as well as Fairfield County in Connecticut. In New York, the subway is flooded, and cars are literally drowning on the streets, from which rescuers have to rescue people.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey warned drivers to completely refuse to travel through the Holland Tunnel to New Jersey because of its flooding, writes NBC New York. Parts of the state were also at risk of a sudden flood, while it was raining (you can check for updates warnings on the area).

In Bayonne, the emergency management agency warned of numerous road closures due to flooding and urged people to stay home. Newark experienced a similar deluge, forcing officials to close all lanes of US 1 and 9 toward the Pulaski Skyway Bridge, which one Uber driver described as "completely underwater."
Rescue work is taking place everywhere, as drivers find themselves in a quandary in fast-moving stormwater.
In New York, as it has become customary in situations of sudden heavy rains and flooding, it rained directly at the subway stations passing through Manhattan. Frames posted on social networks clearly demonstrated real showers inside the stations from Times Square to Bryant Park and 50-th Street.

Wet and turbulent weather with strong winds is expected to continue for much of the day, with spells of showers and late thunderstorms possible. The main shower will weaken later in the evening, but isolated storm events are expected to move through parts of the area by the evening.
Winds from the south-west contributed to the movement of warm air to this region, as a result of which the air temperature dropped to 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 Celsius) on Tuesday, and the forecast for Wednesday promises to be even more severe with temperature peaks to 80 (26) degrees . Severe thunderstorms could move across the tri-state area on Wednesday, bringing the threat of damaging winds, severe downpours and small hail. Meteorologists promise better weather by Thursday and the weekend.
