Six countries have joined the sanctions against Russia
К EU sanctionsintroduced against Russia in connection with the annexation of the Crimea and the conflict in the Donbas, six more states joined - Montenegro, Albania, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Ukraine. Corresponding statement published on the website of the Council of Europe.
Montenegro and Albania are candidates for EU membership. Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway are members of the European Free Trade Association.
The European Union extended the term of anti-Russian sanctions in June to 31 January 2016. Restrictions relate to state-owned companies and banks - they are denied access to the European capital market. In addition, the sanctions relate to a number of individuals - they are prohibited from entering the EU.
In response to the actions of the European Union, Russia extended embargo on the supply of a number of food products from European countries.
