The heart stopped, but the broadcast continued: during the morning show, the famous radio host died

Suffolk radio host Tim Gough dies on air at 55 Independent.

The broadcaster died of a suspected heart attack on Monday, October 24, at his home in Lackford, Suffolk, where he hosted the GenX Radio morning show.

A GenX spokesperson tweeted: “It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that our dear friend and host Tim Gough passed away this morning while hosting his program. We convey our love to his family, son, sister, brother and mother. Tim was doing what he loved. He was 55 years old. Rest in peace, buddy."

James Hazel, Managing Director of GenX Radio, said: “I have known Tim very closely for over 30 years. It meant knowing a warm, caring, funny guy that my family and I loved very much. We are heartbroken. I know his family is extremely comforted by the hundreds of sympathetic messages that have been received and they have asked for privacy during this difficult time."

Gough was reportedly hosting his radio show, after an hour the music stopped at half a song. A few minutes later the music resumed, but the host did not return to his program.

Gough spent most of his life in Suffolk. He began his broadcasting career at Radio Orwell in Ipswich.

He also hosted shows on Saxon Radio and SGR-FM, and appeared on Smooth Radio and numerous East Midlands stations.

Gough is survived by his mother, brother, sister and son.
