Selfie contest with Lenin begins in Russia
In Russia, in order to popularize the image of the former Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin, Instagram users are encouraged to take pictures against the background of the monument to Lenin and share it with the hashtag #Leninzhiv.
The competition started after Komsomol members of the Komi Republic proposed to the leader of the Communist Party of Russia Gennady Zyuganov to “popularize the image of Lenin among young people and at the same time conduct a free inventory of all monuments in the country.”
At the same time, the authors of the best selfies will be given tablets with the complete works of the “leader of the world proletariat.”
It is not yet known whether someone was already overjoyed with 45 with volumes of Lenin's works, writes "TVNZ".
However, not all Russians support this idea - the restoration of the personality cult of this person.
Thus, Nikita Petrov, deputy chairman of the human rights group Memorial, believes that this campaign is aimed at “cultivating a tyrant,” he called it an attempt to restore the cult of Lenin. In his sincere conviction, this “gesture of despair” is unlikely to achieve its goals, writes "Mirror of the week".
In Russia, there are about six thousand monuments to Lenin.
