Russia was again accused of killing civilians in Syria
Russian air strikes in Syria have killed at least 200 civilians since the end of September and led to massive destruction, according to a report by human rights organization Amnesty International. He writes about it buzzfeed.com
The report is based on interviews with 16 eyewitnesses and doctors, as well as human rights groups. Amnesty International analyzed the Russian Air Force 25 air strikes in five different areas: in Homes, Hama, Idlib, Lattakia and Aleppo. In the report, Amnesty International identifies six air strikes that led to dozens of civilian casualties, although there were no obvious military targets nearby. In particular, the air strikes fell on residential buildings, hospital, market and mosque, reports ru.tsn.ua
The report provides a few examples, about which the Forum wrote earlier. One of them concerns the death of 49 civilians in a market in the city of Ariha in Idlib province. The findings indicate that Russia has committed serious violations of international humanitarian law, the human rights organization believes.
Russia still insists on carrying out airstrikes against positions of the Islamic State extremist group and other jihadist militants.
Recall, "Forum" already wrote that Russian military began bombing the territory of Syria 30 September.
