Russian planes leave Syria in groups - each of them includes military transport Tu-154 or Il-76 with technical personnel of the base and combat aircraft. They follow the group to the Russian border, after which they fly to their permanently based airfields.
It is not yet specified how many aircraft have returned to Russia. In total, six Su-34 fighter-bombers were involved in the operation in Syria. In addition, it was reported that with each group of fighters flying transport aircraft.
The return is connected with the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to recall the main part of the Russian military group in Syria from Syria.
Putin explained his decision by saying that the Russian military had fulfilled all the tasks assigned to them in Syria. Opinions have been expressed that this step may be an attempt to put pressure on the Syrian authorities, but the Kremlin denies the existence of such motives.
The Defense Ministry has already said that the remaining contingent in Syria will continue strikes against the positions of local Islamists. In addition, Russia will not withdraw air defense from the country.
