Robert De Niro is not averse to obtaining Russian citizenship

Hollywood actor Robert De Niro has announced his desire to obtain Russian citizenship. The Oscar and Golden Globe winner stated this at a press conference on the occasion of the opening of his restaurant in Moscow.

The co-owner of the network De Niro opened the first restaurant in the capital as early as 2009 year. The project was the result of the cooperation of the Matsuhisa, De Niro, businessmen of Aras and Emin Agalarov.

Responding to numerous questions from journalists, De Niro said that he would not mind getting Russian citizenship following the example of American boxer Roy Jones. At the same time, De Niro stressed that it is still too early to talk about obtaining citizenship.

The first restaurant, which marked the beginning of Nobu’s international cuisine network, was opened by Robert De Niro and Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa at 1994 in New York. The Nobu empire includes 33 restaurants in 28 cities around the world - in London, Las Vegas, Melbourne, Tokyo, Beijing, Miami and others.

Forum previously reported that Roy Jones got Russian passport in September of this year. Before applying for Russian citizenship, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of state agreed to help Jones, provided that he linked his future with activities in Russia.
