Putin has promised the Russian boxer to the American boxer
Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Crimea I spoke with the famous American boxer Roy Jones and promised him Russian citizenship if the boxer lived in Russia for a long time.
“I am very pleased to meet you, know that I really love sports and martial arts, and boxing, of course,” Putin said at the beginning of the meeting.
The Russian president also expressed hope that the American boxer will achieve success in Russia in business. “That’s actually what I came for,” Jones replied. “I think if I had a Russian passport, it would be much easier for me to travel back and forth, because people here love sports, and that’s why I love this place.”
In response, the head of state said that Roy is known in Russia and added: “If you intend to connect a significant part of your life with activities in Russia, then, of course, we will be glad and will gladly fulfill your request to obtain Russian citizenship.”
In turn, the American boxer expressed the opinion that sport will help build a bridge between Russia and the United States.
