Republicans in the United States launched a large-scale campaign in support of Ukraine: this is how they try to alienate voters from Trump

On August 14, a new $2 million campaign called "Republicans for Ukraine" was launched. It is designed to convince Republican voters and elected officials to support Ukraine in the fight against Russia. They called her Gop For Ukraine.

Until the end of the year, the campaign will broadcast videos of appeals from Republican voters calling on members of the US House of Representatives and the US Senate to support Ukraine. POV videos are shown on cable and network television, as well as digitally on YouTube.

In the flagship video, Dave, a lifetime Republican voter from upstate New York, says, “I don’t understand the reluctance of some Republican politicians to support a nascent democracy that is fighting an aggressor. This is a battle that we must help them fight and win."

Republicans for Ukraine is a project of Defend Democracy Together, led by Bill Kristol and Sarah Longwell.

The ads will be posted on 10 billboards in Milwaukee during the first Republican presidential debate on August 23. During the debates, they will also be broadcast on the national Fox News channel. The goal is to remind Americans of the importance of supporting Ukraine and not giving up the fight for freedom. You can see the location of the billboards here, and photos here.

“Too many party leaders seem to believe that there will be no punishment for opposing Ukrainian democracy and America’s role in the fight for freedom,” said Gunner Ramer, a spokesman for Republicans for Ukraine. “We are here to remind them that there are many Republicans across the country who support Ukraine.”

Defending Democracy Together is an advocacy organization created by conservatives and Republicans who are proponents of “lifelong democracy.” The organization opposed Donald Trump and supported voting rights. The ad campaign comes amid growing concern about waning support for Ukraine within the Republican Party, both in Congress and in the 2024 presidential election campaign.
