For the first time in five years, Russian President Vladimir Putin lost his first place in the annual ranking of the most influential people in the world, according to the magazine Forbes.

The leading position in 2018 year went to the head of the PRC Xi Jinping, Putin was in second place. Closes the top three, US President Donald Trump.

The top ten also includes German Chancellor Angela Merkel, head of the online retailer Amazon Jeff Bezos, Pope Francis, Founder Microsoft Bill Gates, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Ibn Salman Al-Saud, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and co-founder Google Larry Page.

Leadership Xi Jinping ensured the rapid growth of the Chinese economy, as well as the decision of the Chinese parliament to expand the powers of the PRC leader, adopted in March 2018.

Putin’s enormous international influence is largely due to Europe’s dependence on Russian oil and gas. The rating is based on several criteria, including the ability to manage large numbers of people, control over large financial resources, influence simultaneously in several areas and the active use of their power.

In total, 75 names are represented in the ranking, 17 of them this year for the first time were in the group of the most influential people in the world.

Among the newcomers of the list, the highest position was taken by the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed ibn Salman al-Saud (8 place), he also turned out to be the youngest member of the ranking. The list also included for the first time French President Emmanuel Macron (seat 12) and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker (position 33).

Vladimir Putin led the ranking of the most influential people in the world, according to Forbes, from 2013 to 2016 a year; in 2017, the rating was not published.
