The Russian Embassy reported that prison conditions for the Russian citizen Peter Levashov, extradited to the USA from Spain, show signs of discrimination and cruel treatment.

Посольство expressed concern about the situation with Levashov. The ministry believes that he was the next victim of the “hunt” of the American special services, therefore, he is now in prison at Bridgeport.

“The Russian citizen was placed in a small solitary cell measuring 2x2 meters, in which there was practically no lighting. In P.Yu. Levashov’s cell he is exposed to constant noise coming from the neighboring rooms. For this reason, as well as due to the lack of a pillow and mattress (a 1 cm thick bedding was provided), P. Yu. Levashov was deprived of proper sleep. In addition, he is prohibited from communicating with other prisoners, walking in the fresh air, as well as telephone calls to relatives in Russia,” writes the Russian Consulate.

Representatives of the Russian side believe that "as a result of inhuman treatment, the health of the Russian citizen has deteriorated." In addition, after being examined by the prison doctor, he has not yet been given prescribed medications.

Recall that he was detained on April 2017 in Barcelona and on February 3 2018 was extradited to the United States. He appeared before a US court and pleaded not guilty.
